Daisy Allen & Jobe Hart (Co-Choreographers):

'Alice by Heart' offers a rich opportunity to combine physical theatre, contemporary dance, and storytelling through movement. Within this production, we aimed to focus on movement as an additional language expressing Alice's emotional turbulence whilst navigating grief. Features of physical theatre, such as breath and eye contact, keep focus and support the journey of the characters. We have also utilised lifts and contact within our ensemble to create a visually thrilling world both in and out of wonderland.

Estelle Pollard-Cox (Director):

In 'Alice by Heart', we follow a group brought together by the Blitz, stuck in a fracturing tube station where they confront their realities of grief, fear, and sorrow. Alice brings everyone into her own constructed world of wonderland, a seemingly inviting and playful world filled with golden afternoons and all the time in the world. As we descend into wonderland, Alice is faced with a beautiful yet raw realisation that to reach the end of her story she must accept that she cannot control the real world around her. As her story runs away from her, we watch the harsh reality of her and Alfred's situation creep back into the show.
